Whetstone Study Programme|Exploring the Ethnic Unity of Xinjiang
Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the largest administrative division in China, is located in Northwest China. Its capital city, Urumqi, is located in the north of the region. The city has many gorgeous landscape features, such as Red Hill and Southern Pasture. Urumqi was also an important city along the world-famous Silk Road, a historically important international trade route between China and the Mediterranean, which extended as far as present-day Rome. Xinjiang is home to 47 ethnic minorities (60% of its population), including 13 native groups such as the Uygur. During the 11-day, 10-night study tour in Xinjiang, we will delve into Xinjiang's rich history, diverse cultures, and collaborative development, experiencing its unique charm together.
