Personal Introduction

Zhang Shuheng, Class of 2020, Diligentia College, School of Science and Engineering, Majoring in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics.

Zhang Shuheng's pragmatic and diligent nature is reflected in his four-year journey of studying at university. "I personally enjoy sitting down and thinking independently about problems, which I feel is more suitable for studying mathematics." With this mindset, Zhang Shuheng chose to major in mathematics. As we all know, choosing to major in mathematics is like choosing a stage filled with challenges and opportunities. From basic algebra to complex analysis, from the mysteries of geometry to the intricacies of computation, there is never a smooth sailing path in the world of mathematics. Facing high-level challenges, Zhang Shuheng did not flinch but persevered with hard work for four years, ultimately successfully securing his desired offer. In fact, when you truly immerse yourself in study and research, joy quietly germinates within. "Studying mathematics is quite fun; mainly, it feels like I'm learning a lot of substantial content, which makes me feel grounded." This realm of understanding is the valuable treasure Zhang Shuheng gained during his four years of academic pursuit.
 

Beyond his academic pursuits, Zhang Shuheng actively participated in activities organized by the college's student body, adding a vibrant hue to Diligentia College with his talent and enthusiasm. As a member of the Publicity Department of the Diligentia Resident Student Association, he captured every memorable moment in the college with his camera. From the Mid-Autumn Night Tour to the New Year's Gala, from the bustling scenes of activities to the smiling faces of classmates, every frame was frozen into eternity in Zhang Shuheng's lens, becoming precious memories for the college.

At the Diligentia Media Centre, he transformed into a video creator, using new media to tell the college's stories. He participated in the filming and production of the short film "A Mid-Autumn Home" and initiated and directed the short variety show series "Classmates, Please Teach Me", receiving praise from classmates and teachers. He established the Diligentia Delight Studio, participated in the production of the studio's promotional video "Come With Light", and apart from his own creations, he also conducted workshops related to video creation, passing on his skills and experience to his classmates.

Reflecting on these experiences, Zhang Shuheng says, "I think these activities enrich my life and make me feel not bored. I can also meet many people, especially those with common interests, which makes my life colorful and fulfilling." All the experiences gained and friendships forged will become bright stars in his life."

Beyond cultivating his personal abilities, Zhang Shuheng also values interpersonal relationships. "I am grateful to my study mates and classmates I play with. Being able to do interesting things together and progress together brings me immense happiness. Also, my roommates, despite having different majors and hobbies, maintain close communication and care for each other. Everyone has their own interests, and we can influence each other." This atmosphere of mutual promotion and complementarity fills Zhang Shuheng's university life with freshness, making his personality development broader and more comprehensive.
 

Unlike most people, Zhang Shuheng does not have a motto to be revered. "The only thing I want to tell my younger classmates is to focus on doing things you like and find meaningful. As for those things you are not so keen on, you don't have to achieve perfection on top of completion, as human energy is limited." He chose to discard the trivial and used four years of precipitation to fulfill his own dreams, without tension, without hurry. This just-right sense of relaxation is precisely how Zhang Shuheng froze his youth in the vast starry sky. May we all be as smooth and comfortable, making life more skillful and youth more distinct.
